Escrow is that point in the home-buying process where you are writing checks for things that seem to never materialize, waiting for appraisals to be scheduled, waiting for appraisals to be finished, waiting for appraisers to send you the results, scheduling inspections to make sure hour home is free of sink holes, having your bank accounts probed, banned from applying for anything, and losing quite a bit of hair over the stress and anxiety that comes along with any application process.

In short, it sucks.

JC has bugged me about buying a house together for years. YEARS! Long before Ju came along. I don’t think he quite understood all of the qualifications that are required beyond having a specific amount of money to throw toward it.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but my early twenties were not kind to my credit score. I have since educated myself enough to realize that knowing your FICO score should prooobably be a requirement for any financial decision you ever make, including bubble gum purchases.

All that aside, I finally reached a point where I was willing to fold and start thinking about the possibility of maybe going forward with looking at houses to buy.

Two weeks later, we were on contract.

Well, clearly I am on an extended hiatus. Not to worry, all is well in our world, we are just working on some personal investments that should be cleared up by the month’s end. (Also, I lost my Bamboo pen again!)

I will be back in May and I may even update the look while I’m at it.

Heeey! I’ve been drawing since I was a kid (twenty-some years) and the style is just something that has developed over that time. It actually hasn’t changed too much since then to be honest. Just a bit more consistency with drawing the same characters over and over again. (I meeaaan, consistent enough.)

I’m pretty proficient in the art of imitating animal sounds but the kid has me beat.

The last time my mother was here, she was reading a book to Ju and got to a part with a sheep and said, “Whatever noise that makes.” I laughed and told her, “Baa, Mother. Baa!” And she responded by saying, “I haven’t had to make animal noises in quite some time.”

And it was then that I realized that animal sounds, much like calculus, is one of those things that you lose over time because it is rarely required in real-life application. Unless your specific career is geared toward crunching numbers or imitating animals, you too might one day forget the noises that obscure animals, such as chinchillas, sloths, and sheep, tend to make.
